Founded by brothers (and surfers) Constantin and Julian Baumgartner, SurfSight’s mission is to make finding quality surf easy and consistent, so you spend more time on the water surfing and less time in front of the screen searching.

SurfSight monitors popular surfing locations using computer vision analytics and provides valuable insights for wave-seeking surfers. Born out of a pandemic that separated many of us from our hobbies and interests, we aim to help others make the most of the precious time they have to engage with their passions. Insights such as the quality of the surf and number of people in the water empower our users to make smarter decisions and seek out more adventure. Our computer vision platform, powered by numerous proprietary datasets, models, and tools, generates live insights for locations all around the world.

Going forward we will continue to expand our machine learning-powered analytics and features, such as an Apple Watch App with wave segmentation and surfer localization. We will also identify and engage with secondary users who can benefit from our insights and services, such as helping food-truck operators optimize where they place their trucks along the beaches.

Julian

A hyper-focused software developer, Julian excels in backend architecture but builds efficient solutions across the entire tech stack. He loves to find unique use cases for emerging tech, so applying his engineering talent to help surfers catch more waves was a natural calling.

Constantin

As a data scientist, Constantin uses machine learning to solve business problems for corporate clients across the globe. After being forced indoors by the pandemic he decided to focus his energy and analytics skills on something that aligns more with his passions, such as surfing.
